CiteScope stores the configuration you give it (your brand name, product category, the competitor names you track, custom prompts, alert email) and the data it generates for you: raw AI-answer text retrieved by our prompt fleet, the brand citations extracted from those answers, derived metrics (share of voice, alerts, reports), and your store's attribute profile. We also store the Shopify session data required to operate the app.
We do not collect, store or process your customers' personal data. CiteScope does not read your orders, customers, or checkout. Our only Shopify permission is read-only access to products.
If you opt in to benchmark contribution, your citation outcomes and attribute profile are aggregated into a category index under an opaque, anonymized identifier — never your store name or domain. The index is built exclusively from consenting stores and publicly available AI answers. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings; your outcomes are then excluded from future index computations.
Uninstalling the app stops all scanning immediately. When Shopify sends the shop redaction webhook (48 hours after uninstall), we delete your shop record and all dependent data — answers, citations, alerts, reports and configuration.
Answer retrieval may use third-party AI providers strictly to fetch answer text for the prompts we run; no merchant or customer personal data is included in those requests. Email delivery (alerts, digests) uses a transactional email provider with your alert address only.
